RC drilling underway at Yandal Resources' Caladan gold target

Yandal Resources Ltd earlier this week began a reverse circulation (RC) drilling program at the Arrakis prospect, part of its Caladan target area within the Ironstone Well-Barwidgee Gold Project in Western Australia. Yandal Resources Ltd exploration manager Chris Oorschot talked with Proactive about the start of the drilling campaign

Highlights

  • Yandal Resources commenced a ~2,000-metre RC drilling program at the Arrakis prospect.
  • Drilling will test mineralisation continuity and host structure geometry beneath broad-spaced air-core intercepts.
  • Arrakis lies within the broader Caladan target in the Ironstone Well-Barwidgee Gold Project.
  • Recent air-core drilling defined over 2.2 kilometres of mineralisation.
  • Drilling is expected to complete in 10–16 days, with assay results in 5–7 weeks.
  • Results from 14 air-core holes at Caladan are still pending.
  • Heritage surveys are planned to enable tighter-spaced drilling.
  • Additional exploration at New England Granite is underway.
  • The company is finalising a A$2.81 million sale of the Gordons Gold Project.

Yandal to start RC drilling

Yandal's latest drilling campaign will comprise approximately 2,000 metres of RC drilling across six to ten holes. The work will test continuity of mineralisation into fresh rock and clarify the geometry of the mineralised structures at Arrakis.

The company highlighted that the RC work follows encouraging results from broad-spaced air-core drilling, which defined more than 2.2 kilometres of mineralisation along the Arrakis trend. Notable air-core intercepts included:

  • 11 metres at 2.1 grams per tonne gold from 90 metres, including 7 metres at 3.1 g/t,
  • 12 metres at 1.1 g/t from 45 metres,
  • 11 metres at 1.4 g/t from 71 metres, including 6 metres at 2.3 g/t.

Arrakis lies within exploration tenements E 53/1843, E 53/2304, E 53/2192, and E 53/1882. The area is 60 kilometres south of Northern Star’s Jundee mining complex and 18 kilometres north of the Siona discovery in the Yandal Greenstone Belt.

The company told investors it expects the RC campaign to be completed in 10 to 16 days, with assay results due in five to seven weeks. Yandal also noted that results from the remaining 14 holes of the Caladan air-core program are still pending.

The company said heritage surveys would begin shortly to support tighter-spaced drilling along 200-metre lines across Arrakis.

More work ahead

Looking ahead, Yandal plans further phases of air-core and RC drilling across its portfolio, with results expected soon from work at the New England Granite target. It is also progressing the A$2.81 million sale of its Gordons Gold Project to Horizon Minerals, a transaction that would enhance its balance sheet.

The company has continued to prioritise systematic exploration across its tenement package in 2025, with the aim of unlocking scale potential at key gold targets.
