Krakatoa Resources Ltd (ASX:KTA) has applied for a new licence covering the Dingo Pass rare earth element (REE) prospect, adjoining the Tower REE resource of 101 million tonnes at 801 parts per million (ppm) total rare earth oxide (TREO).

Historic drilling at Dingo Pass confirmed clay-hosted REE mineralisation extends at least 8 kilometres east of Tower, with significant results including:
- 3 metres at 4,512 ppm TREO from 21 metres (DGAC059)
- 4 metres at 3,700 ppm TREO from 21 metres (DGAC017)
- 9 metres at 1,885 ppm TREO from surface, including 3 metres at 2,269 ppm TREO from 6 metres (DGAC097)
“Following the receipt of the $220,000 EIS grant from the WA State Government last October, we are excited to announce that drilling has been completed over the highly prospective Stone Tank Nb-REE prospect,” executive chairman of Krakatoa Resources Colin Locke said.
“Our team will be competing the core processing and sample selection in the coming weeks, and we look forward to keeping shareholders up to date as we progress.
“We are also pleased to report the lodgement of a strategic [exploration lease] application of neighbouring Dingo Pass, which was previously explored and extensively drilled between 2020 to 2024. When granted, it will substantially increase our already significant clay-hosted REE footprint in Western Australia.”
In addition, a two-hole, 1,000-metre diamond drilling program has been completed at the Stone Tank niobium-REE prospect, partially funded by a A$220,000 Western Australian Government grant, with assays expected next quarter.
Expansion into Dingo Pass
Krakatoa has lodged application E52/4498 to secure ground east of the Tower deposit, where exploration has highlighted substantial potential.
Between 2020 and 2024, Desert Metals drilled 100 aircore holes over the area.
Results of the 2022 air-core drilling showing maximum 3m composites of TREO assay result. Of the 100 holes drilled, 74 holes retuned assays greater than 500ppm TREO including 31 holes returning intercepts >1000ppm TREO.
Results confirmed extensive REE mineralisation, with 74 holes returning assays above 500 ppm TREO and 31 holes above 1,000 ppm TREO. Importantly, mineralisation was continuous for 1.6 kilometres immediately east of Tower, with intercepts such as 12 metres at 1,363 ppm TREO (including 3 metres at 2,078 ppm from 24 metres).
The data suggests Tower’s mineralisation footprint could expand fivefold, further strengthening Krakatoa’s clay-hosted REE position in Western Australia.
Drilling at Stone Tank
At Stone Tank, diamond drilling targeted the Jagger and Richards gravity anomalies, interpreted as shallow intrusive systems or alteration zones. The program intersected siliceous geology with evidence of alkaline mineralisation in hole STD2502, as well as sulphide mineralisation in both holes.
Funded in part by a A$220,000 Exploration Incentive Scheme grant, all core has been cut and logged, with quarter-core samples to be sent for laboratory analysis.
Results are due next quarter and will provide greater insight into the potential scale of the Stone Tank niobium-REE system.
