hVIVO appoints former Clinigen boss as chair

hVIVO PLC (AIM:HVO), the London-listed pharmaceutical research company, has named Shaun Chilton as its new chair, bringing in an industry veteran with more than three decades of experience.

Chilton, who was chief executive of Clinigen Group, a pharmaceutical services group with operations in more than 100 countries, takes up the non-executive role with immediate effect.

The company, which specialises in human challenge trials, where healthy volunteers are deliberately exposed to infectious diseases in controlled conditions to test new medicines and vaccines, said the appointment would strengthen its board as it looked to expand.

Elaine Sullivan, hVIVO’s interim chair, said: “We are delighted to welcome Shaun to the board of hVIVO. Shaun brings a wealth of sector-relevant experience and we believe his expertise will support us as we continue to grow and diversify the group.”

Alongside his new post, Chilton is chair of Avacta Group and Kintiga, and sits on the supervisory board of Product Life Group, a consultancy for life sciences businesses.

Commenting on his appointment, he said: “I am pleased to join the board of hVIVO plc, a company which I believe has excellent prospects as it continues to diversify its service offering while leading the global charge in delivering exceptional human challenge trial services to its clients.”
