Yandal Resources Ltd exploration manager Chris Oorschot talked with Proactive about the start of a reverse circulation (RC) drilling campaign at the Arrakis prospect, part of the broader Caladan target within the Ironstone Well-Barwidgee Gold Project in Western Australia.
The ~2,000-metre RC program will test continuity and geometry of gold mineralisation across 2.2 kilometres of strike, building on broad-spaced air-core intercepts. Oorschot said the aim was to "confirm continuity of mineralisation into fresh rock and define the geometry of the host structures at Arrakis."
Recent air-core drilling produced encouraging results, including:
11 metres at 2.1 g/t gold from 90 metres (including 7 metres at 3.1 g/t),
12 metres at 1.1 g/t gold from 45 metres, and
11 metres at 1.4 g/t gold from 71 metres (including 6 metres at 2.3 g/t).
Located within tenements E 53/1843, E 53/2304, E 53/2192, and E 53/1882, the area lies 60 kilometres south of Northern Star’s Jundee mining complex.
The program is expected to wrap up in 10–16 days, with assay results due in 5–7 weeks. The company is also progressing heritage surveys and planning follow-up RC and air-core drilling, while finalising the A$2.81 million sale of the Gordons Gold Project.
