Krakatoa Resources Ltd (ASX:KTA) CEO Mark Major spoke with Proactive after the company kicked off its maiden drilling program at the Zopkhito Sb-Au Project in Georgia. The 7,000–10,000 metre diamond drilling campaign is designed to test previously mapped high-grade antimony and gold veins from historic underground development, which underpin a foreign resource estimate of 225,000 tonnes at 11.6% Sb and 7.10 million tonnes at 3.7 g/t Au.
Major described the campaign as a key milestone for Krakatoa as it works to modernise the resource into a JORC 2012-compliant estimate. “This is a significant event for the project, being its first-ever drill campaign and a major step for the company,” he said.
With rigs now active on site and another soon to mobilise, the company said results from the program will support future development decisions and help define the scale and grade potential of the Zopkhito system.
Georgia’s strategic location and pro-business environment were also noted as adding value to the company’s exploration strategy.
