Synertec secures repeat Santos order for Powerhouse microgrid system

Synertec Corporation Ltd (ASX:SOP) has notched another milestone for its flagship Powerhouse technology, with Santos Ltd (ASX:STO) placing a new order for the renewable microgrid system to support its GLNG gas operations in Queensland.

The system will be deployed to a greenfield development site in the Surat-Bowen Basin, adding to multiple existing installations — and Synertec says this repeat success with Santos could pave the way for broader deployment of Powerhouse with other operators in Australia and overseas.

Multiple repeat orders validate Powerhouse

The order builds on several earlier installations that have been operating seamlessly for the GLNG joint venture, including through major weather events such as Cyclone Alfred.

Powerhouse, developed in-house by Synertec, is a fully renewable, artificial intelligence (AI)-driven microgrid that provides guaranteed high-availability power without any fossil-fuel backup. The system’s patented predictive intelligence enables continuous, emission-free supply for remote industrial sites, often at lower cost than traditional thermal or hybrid power solutions.

Managing director Michael Carroll said repeat business from Santos reinforced Powerhouse’s commercial and technical credibility.

“As Santos and the GLNG JV embrace Powerhouse as a technology of choice for reliable, cost-effective power for critical energy development activities, Powerhouse continues to demonstrate its exceptional technical and commercial merits as an intelligent, industrial microgrid for remote locations,” Carroll said.

“Our repeat success with Santos and the GLNG JV paves the way for a broader deployment of Powerhouse to other operators, which we are engaged with,” he added. “The large target market we see for Powerhouse across both domestic and international markets requiring reliable, continuous and commercial base load power, which is 100% renewable, continues to provide a significant growth opportunity for Synertec.”

Long-term revenue model

Under the agreement, the new system will be delivered via a Build, Own, Operate and Maintain (BOOM) model, providing Santos with price certainty under a flat monthly rental over an initial three-year term. The units have an accepted life of 15 years, with assembly to be carried out in Brisbane by the same team that delivered previous systems.

The system is expected to be on site and contributing to Synertec’s revenue in the final quarter of FY26.

Proven track record

In June, Powerhouse passed five years of continuous operation with 99.9% availability across multiple sites, with no unplanned maintenance call-outs. Its performance has allowed Santos to reduce well appraisal time and costs, while lowering operating risk.

Synertec positions Powerhouse as a scalable solution for industries requiring reliable, emission-free baseload power. The technology’s portability, redundancy and remote operability offer safety and efficiency benefits, while eliminating carbon emissions.
