Guardian Metal Resources boosted as it enters US govt programs

Guardian Metal Resources PLC (LSE:GMET) shares were up 20% in Tuesday's trade thanks to a boost from a US government program which is backing the firm's Pilot Mountain tungsten project, in Nevada.

The company, in a statement, said it had now joined the US Defense Industrial Base Consortium and the Cornerstone Program, a pair of initiatives designed to strengthen America's defense supply chain.

It follows a $6.2 million award from the Department of Defense earlier this year, for work at Pilot Mountain.

“In 2025, our partnership with the U.S. Government has advanced significantly," said chief executive Oliver Friesen.

Guardian shares climbed 19.5% to change hands at 88.42p in Tuesday morning's dealings, valuing the company at just under £150 million.
