Kodal Minerals PLC (AIM:KOD) has confirmed the death of a security guard following an attack near the main entrance of its Bougouni lithium mine in Mali.
Following the incident, Kodal increased the military presence at the site and is cooperating with the Malian government to ensure the safety of all staff and contractors. The company also confirmed that mining and processing operations continue without disruption.
The incident took place at night of 22 August. The attackers fled after engaging with military forces stationed at the site. Kodal reported that no other personnel were injured.
