Galileo Resources PLC (AIM:GLR) told investors it has begun reverse circulation drilling at its wholly owned PL253 licence in the Kalahari Copperbelt.
The project, which lies adjacent to ground actively explored by Cobre and BHP, includes four holes targeting geochemical and structural anomalies in the northwestern area of the licence.
“Our drilling programme now underway on PL253 is being carried out in an area with a highly prospective address,” said chief executive Colin Bird.
"Significant exploration commitment by BHP and others has placed the spotlight on this underexplored northwestern limb of the KCB and provides considerable encouragement for our programme.
"We look forward to the outcome and will keep shareholders informed as results are received."
Previous drilling by Galileo returned consistent copper anomalies, including from hole QTRC006, which will be followed up in this campaign, the company noted. It highlighted also that the targets are near the 'D’Kar/Ngwako Pan contact and interpreted thrust faults' which are areas that are considered favourable for copper-silver mineralisation.
