Solis Minerals Ltd CEO Mitch Thomas talked with Proactive about the company’s initial drilling results at the 100%-owned Ilo Este copper-gold project in southern Peru, where the first diamond drill hole (IE-001-2025) has intersected copper mineralisation, highlighting the potential for a large porphyry system.
The hole reached a depth of 482.10 metres and encountered intrusive rocks with multiple fault zones, breccias, alteration, and visible copper mineralisation. Four distinct mineralised zones were visually identified, including near-surface copper oxides and deeper chalcopyrite and molybdenite associated with quartz veining.
“We’re very excited by evidence of significant mineralisation at Ilo Este. First assays are expected in September 2025. We have encountered mineralisation across long intercepts of approximately 350 metres,” Thomas said.
The geology includes granular microdiorite and a porphyritic quartz diorite unit, with increased alteration and mineralisation intensity with depth. Disseminated magnetite observed supports the presence of a key northern magnetic anomaly.
A second drill hole is now underway 200 metres south-southwest of IE-001-2025. The broader program includes approximately 5,000 metres of drilling across 10 planned holes, aimed at confirming mineralisation, understanding structural controls, and evaluating geophysical anomalies.
