Janus Electric CEO Ian Campbell spoke with Proactive about the company’s new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with EVUNI Pte Ltd, involving a proposed A$5 million investment and the expansion of Janus’ electric drivetrain technology into African markets.
Janus Electric Holdings Ltd (ASX:JNS) will grant EVUNI exclusive rights to distribute its patented electric conversion kits across Africa, targeting the mining and logistics sectors. Under the MoU, EVUNI will acquire up to 25 million ordinary shares at A$0.20 each, with funding provided in stages linked to binding agreements and delivery milestones.
The agreement will see Janus supply a minimum of 250 electric conversion modules per year over a five-year term, with the potential to extend further. The collaboration will also support local deployment of Janus' battery swap infrastructure and fleet management software.
“This partnership with EVUNI represents a major milestone in our international validation,” Campbell said. “By combining our technology with EVUNI’s regional expertise, we are well positioned to deliver sustainable, scalable electrification solutions for Africa’s heavy transport sector.”
EVUNI, headquartered in Singapore, focuses on electro-mobility projects in sub-Saharan Africa. It plans to integrate Janus’ solutions into infrastructure such as the Kalahari-to-Ngqura transport corridor.
Final binding agreements are expected by September 2025, with deliveries to follow within 12 months.
