Critical Resources consolidates Mavis Lake Lithium Project with strategic acquisitions

Critical Resources Ltd (ASX:CRR) is set to consolidate the Mavis Lake Lithium Project landholding in Ontario, Canada, after the company executed a binding agreement to acquire adjacent lithium prospects. The move enhances the project’s strategic position within North America’s lithium supply chain, supported by world-class infrastructure.

CRR has already defined a maiden JORC Mineral Resource Estimate of 8 million tonnes (Mt) at 1.07% Li₂O and announced an Exploration Target of 18–29Mt at 0.8–1.2% Li₂O. Recent drilling has demonstrated significant intersections beyond the current resource envelope, highlighting potential for further growth.

The acquisitions represent a low-cost, high-impact expansion, creating a dominant district-scale landholding. Critical has also applied for up to C$200,000 under the Ontario Junior Exploration Program (OJEP) to support upcoming exploration work.

Land consolidation expands exploration potential

The newly acquired claims, covering about 6,300 hectares, strengthen Critical Resources’ position along a prospective regional trend. This consolidation provides greater optionality in targeting spodumene-bearing pegmatites, with LIBS (Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy) confirming high fractionation levels and low K/Rb ratios across the new ground.

In addition, the company has staked a further 1,000 hectares at the Centrefire Creek prospect, broadening its multi-commodity footprint in the region. These moves are expected to unlock a pipeline of drill-ready targets, increasing the project’s growth optionality while maintaining low upfront costs.

“The consolidation of these lithium-rich claims marks another important step in the strengthening of our land position in the Ontario region. The identification of highly fractionated pegmatites supports the strong potential for further resource growth. These additional claims expand our pipeline of drill ready targets, enhancing the Exploration Target announced in May 2024, which gives shareholders an understanding of the potential upside at the Mavis Lake Lithium Project,” CRR CEO Tim Wither said.

“We are starting to see encouraging signals from small supply imbalances within the lithium markets. Lithium demand growth remains robust, and in less mature markets, even small supply-demand imbalances can trigger rapid price movements. It is encouraging to continue to observe large market participants maintaining investment momentum in the sector to secure long-term lithium supply. In preparation we continue with low-cost value-adding workstreams, building a strong foundation for long-term growth at Mavis Lake.

“For Shareholders, the Mavis Lake Project stands as one of Ontario’s significant lithium assets, with scale potential, grade, and access to world-class transport and power utility infrastructure, setting Mavis Lake to play a key role in North America’s lithium supply chain.’

Progress at Mavis Lake

Since acquiring Mavis Lake in 2022, Critical has completed more than 58,000 metres of drilling, establishing the 8Mt maiden resource and later defining a larger Exploration Target. Recent programs confirmed mineralisation extends beyond the current model, with intersections such as 74.4 metres at 1.18% Li₂O (including 32.9 metres at 1.81% Li₂O) and 50.2 metres at 1.28% Li₂O.

Beyond the main zone, drilling at the Tot Pegmatite returned strong spodumene intersections, demonstrating the potential for resource expansion outside existing estimates. Importantly, many areas of the project remain underexplored, providing scope for discovery through targeted drilling, geophysics and geochemical surveys.

Alongside drilling, the company is advancing metallurgical studies, environmental baseline work and permitting, with continued engagement with local communities and First Nations groups. This combined technical and stakeholder progress positions Mavis Lake as a key future supplier to North America’s lithium market.

Multi-commodity upside and funding

In addition to lithium, the newly secured ground hosts historical gold, silver and copper showings along a 14-kilometre trend. Initial assessments at prospects such as Bluett Lake, Centrefire Creek and Red Hat indicate further exploration potential. Follow-up work is planned to validate these earlier results.

Critical has applied for the maximum C$200,000 under the Ontario Junior Exploration Program, with funds earmarked to support exploration across priority targets. The company considers the acquisition a high-impact growth option, achieved for a modest C$25,000 cash consideration plus a 2% Net Smelter Royalty split between vendors.

Completion of the acquisition remains subject to due diligence and approvals. Once finalised, Critical will control a significantly expanded district-scale project with both lithium and precious metal potential
