Small Cap Watch: gold, lithium and strategy updates keep investors busy

Australian small caps drifted slightly on Friday, with the Small Ordinaries easing 0.05% against a 0.57% fall for the ASX 200. While large-cap earnings weighed on the broader market, junior explorers and developers kept investors engaged with a wave of updates spanning high-grade gold discoveries, lithium consolidation plays and corporate strategy shifts.

Early news flow on Monday is continuing that momentum, with fresh drilling results, land acquisitions and deal updates providing plenty to digest.

Nova Minerals builds political momentum in Alaska

Nova Minerals Ltd (ASX:NVA, NASDAQ:NVA, OTC:NVAAF) reported fresh political tailwinds for its Estelle Gold and Critical Minerals Project in Alaska after US Senator Lisa Murkowski toured the site. The senator has been outspoken on America’s “mineral security” vulnerabilities, and her visit adds weight to federal backing for domestic supply chains, particularly in antimony and gold.

Murkowski’s support follows recent engagement with Alaska’s governor and Australia’s Consul General, as well as independent research naming Estelle one of just two near-term US antimony projects globally. The company said the growing chorus of political interest positions Estelle as a “strategic priority” in the push to reduce reliance on foreign critical minerals.

Antipa Minerals hits bonanza grades at Fiama

Antipa Minerals Ltd (ASX:AZY) unveiled what it called “outstanding” assays from the Minyari Gold-Copper Project in WA’s Paterson Province, including 33 metres at 15.6 g/t gold and 0.28% copper from shallow depth.

Other intercepts included 23 metres at 7.1 g/t and 22 metres at 1.0 g/t, with mineralisation open in multiple directions. Antipa also confirmed new discovery success at its Rizzo prospect. The company has completed Phase 1 drilling totalling more than 36,000 metres, with Phase 2 now underway alongside pre-feasibility study work.

Far East Gold extends Idenburg system

Far East Gold Ltd (ASX:FEG)released encouraging initial drill results from its Bermol prospect, part of the Idenburg Project in Papua, Indonesia. Intercepts such as 4.7 metres at 2.26 g/t gold and 2 metres at 3.17 g/t gold confirm depth extensions and new zones of mineralisation outside the existing 540,000-ounce resource.

CEO Shane Menere said the results validate Bermol’s potential to host a significant gold system, with drilling now moving to North Bermol and preparations underway for maiden programs at additional prospects.

Critical Resources consolidates Mavis Lake

Critical Resources Ltd (ASX:CRR) has expanded its landholding at the Mavis Lake Lithium Project in Ontario, acquiring neighbouring claims covering 6,300 hectares. The move consolidates its position along a prospective regional trend and adds new drill-ready targets to the pipeline.

The project already hosts a maiden 8-million-tonne resource grading 1.07% Li₂O, with drilling outside the envelope delivering broad, high-grade intersections.
