US drive for mineral independence spotlights Nova’s Estelle Project

The United States’ push for critical minerals independence continues to see senior policymakers emphasising the need to reduce reliance on foreign supply chains. Against this backdrop, Nova Minerals Ltd (ASX:NVA, NASDAQ:NVA, OTC:NVAAF)’s Estelle Gold and Critical Minerals Project in Alaska has drawn bipartisan interest, most recently underscored by Senator Lisa Murkowski’s visit to site.

Estelle has been independently identified as one of only nine projects worldwide, and one of two in the US, with near-term antimony production potential. With surface stockpiles already in place, the project is positioning itself as a dual-commodity asset capable of delivering both gold and antimony — the latter critical to US defence and industrial supply chains.

US policy and critical minerals strategy

Senator Murkowski’s presence at Estelle comes as Washington strengthens its efforts to secure domestic mineral production.

In March 2025, Murkowsk warned: “Our lack of mineral security is our nation’s Achilles’ heel — a vulnerability that leaves us at the mercy of politically unstable and often adversarial nations.”

Her remarks align with recent Presidential executive orders, including “Unleashing Alaska’s Extraordinary Resource Potential” (January 2025) and “Immediate Measures to Increase American Mineral Production” (March 2025). These directives instruct multiple agencies to accelerate project approvals and encourage investment in local supply chains, particularly for strategic minerals such as antimony, rare earths and battery metals.

Murkowski’s visit to Estelle reinforces the growing recognition of Alaska’s resource potential in advancing US mineral security. The state’s combination of geological endowment, established mining infrastructure, and proximity to defence industries positions projects such as Estelle as central to US policy objectives.

Senator Murkowski and her team reviewing on-site massive Stibnite (antimony trisulfide) bearing mineral samples, collected this season across the Estelle Project site — underscoring the exceptional quality and strategic importance of Nova’s antimony potential for US military supply chains.

Estelle’s role as a strategic US asset

Nova’s Estelle Project, located 150 kilometres northwest of Anchorage, covers 514 square kilometres of mining claims across the Tintina Gold Belt. The project hosts more than 20 advanced gold and antimony prospects, including two multi-million-ounce gold resources.

Importantly, massive outcropping stibnite veins and stockpiles already accumulated on site give Nova a pathway to near-term antimony output.

“We’re witnessing a convergence of policy, diplomacy, and local support around Estelle,” Nova CEO Christopher Gerteisen said.

“Recognised for its significant gold and antimony potential and highlighted in the RFC Ambrian report as one of only two US projects with near-term antimony production capability, Estelle is emerging as a strategic asset.

“Growing interest from both the US Department of Defense and the Australian government underscores momentum far beyond routine exploration.

“Notably, Nova has already accumulated surface stibnite stockpiles potentially capable of producing antimony trisulfide for US strategic purposes. While the material requires modest further concentration to meet military specifications, this positions Nova as a potential critical contributor to national defense supply chains.”

Building broad-based support

The Senator’s visit adds to a series of high-level endorsements. Alaska Governor Mike Dunleavy has aligned the project with regional infrastructure priorities including the West Susitna Access Road, Port MacKenzie and the Alaska LNG development. Australian Consul General Tanya Bennett has highlighted Estelle as a symbol of deepening US-Australia collaboration in critical minerals. Further support has come from Alaska’s congressional delegation and local government leaders.

Independent research has also validated Estelle’s positioning.

A February 2025 RFC Ambrian report, Antimony – A Market Under Severe Stress, identified Estelle alongside Perpetua Resources’ Stibnite Project as the only US operations with near-term antimony capability. Perpetua currently carries a market capitalisation of around A$2.93 billion.

With diplomatic, state and industry recognition converging, Estelle is building momentum not only as a gold development but as a critical piece of US mineral independence.
