Shares in Aptamer Group PLC (AIM:APTA) jumped 10% after the company revealed strong progress on multiple enzyme modulation licensing opportunities and validation from a top-five global pharmaceutical partner.
The York-based biotech said its first enzyme-modulating Optimer binder is moving towards a 10-year, non-exclusive licensing deal, with sales expected before year-end.
Forecasts suggest royalties from the agreement could cover around 15% of Aptamer’s annual overheads over the next three years. Talks are also underway with two other major enzyme distributors, including one that has signed a material transfer agreement to evaluate the technology.
A second Optimer enzyme inhibitor has reached the final stage of development, with licensing discussions now active.
Separately, Aptamer reported “extremely positive” results from its Optimer technology with a top five pharmaceutical partner, which found the platform outperformed traditional antibodies.
The pharma group has placed repeat orders, with licensing discussions expected to follow.
The stock rose 0.065p to 0.7p.
