Midnight Sun starts second drill at Dumbwa to speed up exploration

Midnight Sun Mining Corp (TSX-V:MMA, OTCQB:MDNGF) told investors it has started work with a second diamond drill rig at the Dumbwa target on the Solwezi Project in Zambia.

The company, in a statement, highlighted that it is now expecting to speed up the current exploration program, with the second rig set to correlate previous drilling, new IP data, and a 20-kilometre copper-in-soil anomaly.

“Our systematic exploration approach is in action and the team are executing with precision," chief executive Al Fabbro said.

"All of our data at Dumbwa suggests an extremely large target area, so we have put a second drill to work in order to expedite the program, which is designed to correlate all previous drilling, new IP data, and the extraordinary 20-kilometre soil anomaly that overlays the target with underlying copper mineralization.”

The Dumbwa project is described as a near-surface, low-strip, bulk-tonnage exploration target.

The geology and mineralization is said to resemble Barrick’s Lumwana Mine, located about 60 kilometres to the west. At Dumbwa, the copper-in-soil anomaly runs for about 20 kilometres and is more than 1 kilometre wide. Peak copper values reach 0.73%.

Prior drilling confirmed sulphide copper mineralization, and additional drilling is required to define dip, continuity, size, and scale.

Explaining further, the company said a recent dipole–dipole IP survey covered 11.5 kilometres of the southern strike extent. Interpretation shows horizons from flat-lying to tightly folded and identifies several cross-cutting structures. The target horizon correlates with mineralized intervals in prior drilling and with the soil anomaly, it noted.
