Air Canada strike ends with tentative deal for flight attendants

Air Canada (TSX:AC.B) has reached a provisional agreement with its flight attendants’ union, ending a four-day strike that disrupted services and stranded more than half a million passengers.

The Canadian Union of Public Employees said the deal represented “transformational change” for the industry, while the airline confirmed operations began resuming on Tuesday.

Details have not been formally released, though Canadian media reported the proposal includes immediate pay rises of 8 to 12 % and new compensation for pre-flight duties.

The agreement, reached after mediated talks, must still be ratified by union members.

Air Canada said it could take several days to restore its full schedule, with aircraft and crew out of position following the walkout by more than 10,000 staff.
