Just the Facts: Sovereign Metals boosts ESG credentials with strong Kasiya rehabilitation results

Sovereign Metals has reported exceptional first-year results from rehabilitation trials at its Kasiya Rutile-Graphite Project in Malawi.

The ten-hectare pilot program delivered maize yields of 5.2 tonnes per hectare — that's five times higher than the regional average. That result validates the company’s progressive mining, back-filling, and rehabilitation approach, which will form part of its Definitive Feasibility Study.

The trials engaged 28 local farmers and proved that post-mining land can achieve greater productivity than pre-mining conditions.

Sovereign Metals CEO Frank Eagar said: "With oversight from the joint SVM–Rio Technical Committee, we continue to advance the genuine Tier-1 Kasiya Project.”

Sovereign says the success de-risks its feasibility study, strengthens its ESG credentials, and enhances community value by ensuring land is returned to farmers in a more productive state.

Sovereign will now expand the program across the broader Kasiya operation.
