Nvidia Corp (NASDAQ:NVDA, ETR:NVD) is developing a new AI chip specifically for the Chinese market, codenamed the B30A, which is said to be more powerful than the H20 GPUs currently allowed for sale in China, according to a Reuters report.
The B30A chip is reportedly designed with a single-die architecture and is expected to deliver roughly half the computing power of Nvidia's flagship B300 Blackwell GPU, which uses a more advanced dual-die design.
It will feature high-bandwidth memory and NVLink technology similar to the H20 chip, enabling fast data transmission between processors, per the report.
The report comes as the Trump administration has recently relaxed restrictions on exporting high-performance AI chips to China, although approvals for the new chip remain uncertain.
In response to the report, Nvidia said it is evaluating several products for the Chinese market.
“We evaluate a variety of products for our roadmap, so that we can be prepared to compete to the extent that governments allow,” the company told CNBC. “Everything we offer is with the full approval of the applicable authorities and designed solely for beneficial commercial use.”
Shares of Nvidia traded down 1.9% at $178 on Tuesday, having gained about 33% year-to-date.
