Resolution Minerals Ltd (ASX:RML, OTC:RLMLF) has started Phase 1 drilling at its Horse Heaven Gold-Antimony-Tungsten Project in Idaho, United States, located adjacent to $3 billion-capped Perpetua Resources' Stibnite Gold Mine. The program follows the appointment of contractor Evolve, receipt of final approvals, and project bonding.
Location plan of the Horse Heaven Project. Note that the coordinates are a metres north and east metric system (not latitude/longitude) centric to this part of North America.
The company will start the campaign with a 3,000-metre drilling program across nine holes, with the potential to extend to 6,000 metres. The program aims to confirm historic gold intersections at Golden Gate, test mineralisation at depth, and assess antimony and tungsten, which were not previously sampled.
With the United States entirely reliant on imported antimony, Resolution sees strategic importance in the project’s potential supply. Historic production during World War I, World War II and the Korean War underscores this significance. In this context, Horse Heaven is strategically very well positioned to potentially address the long-term antimony supply shortage if progressed through to production.
“Drilling is now underway. This is an important milestone for Resolution, and we are pleased with progress,” RML’s CEO of US Operations, Craig Lindsay, said.
“This would not be possible without the welcome support of the local town of Yellow Pine and the US Forest Service as we move forward with developing the next source of critical metals to meet the United States’ growing domestic demand.”
Phase 1 drilling program
Resolution has mobilised a man-portable modular HQ diamond drill rig at Golden Gate.
The program will focus on confirming historic intersections, including previous results of
- Drill hole 87-GGR-31: 85.34m @ 0.937g/t Au (true width unknown), incl 38.10m @ 1.459g/t Au
- Drill hole 86-GGR-10: 105.16m @ 0.787g/t Au (true width unknown); incl 51.82m @ 0.990g/t Au
- Drill hole 86-GGR-01: 30.48m @ 1.354g/t Au (true width unknown).
Drilling will test extensions laterally and at depth, with the option to expand drilling subject to additional rig availability. Drilling is expected to be completed by early October 2025.
The company will also advance mapping, sampling, and stream sediment work to generate new targets. An initial review will be conducted east of Golden Gate, where roof pendants are believed to relate to mineralising intrusions.
Environmental baseline studies
Resolution intends to start environmental baseline surveys to support a new Plan of Operation, which would allow drilling on a larger footprint, including at Golden Gate, Antimony Ridge and other emerging targets.
Planned studies include water quality monitoring, vegetation surveys, riparian habitat assessments, bird and archaeological surveys.
The expanded plan would support an Environmental Assessment review process, allowing road upgrades and construction of new drill access. These steps aim to align exploration with regulatory requirements while minimising environmental impact.
Government relations and strategic support
To secure US federal support and incentives, Resolution has engaged government relations firm Thorn Run Partners, which will lead advocacy efforts, supported by Clewett Global Services.
The company intends to expedite permitting, introduce the project to policymakers and seek alignment with US government programs targeting critical minerals supply.
Resolution also expects an imminent listing on the OTCQB market, providing additional access to US investors.
