Ocean Power Technologies Inc (NYSE-A:OPTT) announced it has opened a new office at the Association for Uncrewed Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) headquarters in Washington, DC, expanding its US presence and strengthening ties with the uncrewed systems industry.
The company said the office underscores its commitment to advancing uncrewed systems operations and national policy engagement.
By locating within AUVSI’s headquarters, OPT said it is positioned alongside the world’s largest nonprofit dedicated to uncrewed systems and robotics.
According to the company, the move will enhance collaboration with AUVSI on industry initiatives, including the Trusted Operator Program, which sets standards for safety, training, and operational excellence across air, ground, and maritime domains.
OPT added that the Washington office supports its broader growth plans, which include expanding its WAM-V Unmanned Surface Vehicle fleet, advancing its AI-capable Merrows Maritime Domain Awareness System, and deploying its PowerBuoy platforms for offshore infrastructure.
“We believe establishing a presence in Washington, DC allows us to deepen our engagement with key stakeholders in government, industry, and policy,” OPT vice president of commercial sales Jason Weed said in a statement.
“Our relationship with AUVSI has been instrumental in promoting best practices for the safe and effective deployment of unmanned systems, and this expansion reflects our shared vision for the future of maritime autonomy.”
