UK Bitcoin treasury groups will be looking on with interest after it emerged that Amsterdam-based crypto group Amdax has unveiled plans to float a new company, AMBTS (Amsterdam Bitcoin Treasury Strategy), on Euronext Amsterdam.
The move comes as Bitcoin trades near record highs, up 32% this year, buoyed by regulatory wins and backing from President Donald Trump, who has styled himself the “crypto president.”
Chief executive Lucas Wensing said: “With now over 10% of bitcoin supply held by corporations, governments and institutions, we think the time is right to establish a bitcoin treasury company with the aim to obtain a listing on Euronext Amsterdam.”
AMBTS intends to raise funds from private investors in an initial round, with the long-term goal of owning at least 1% of all bitcoin in circulation.
The emergence of AMBTS mirrors the activity here in the UK where The Smarter Web Company (AQSE:SWC), London BTC Company Ltd (LSE:BTC, OTCQB:VINZF) and Coinsilium Group Limited (AQSE:COIN, OTCQB:CINGF) have been at the vanguard of the emerging treasury sector.
