MarketsinMinute: ASX 200 hits 100-day high as telecoms rally, Qantas fined

The ASX 200 closed up around a quarter of a per cent, and has set a new 100-day high.

Telecommunication bucked the trend - the sector shot up around 1.5% - followed by IT - whilst energy and materials fell short, and shed around half a per cent.

IN THE GREEN

Lendlease Group (ASX:LLC) was up more than 6.5% after the property developer posted a full-year profit of $225 million, compared to a $1.5 billion loss a year earlier.

Alkane Resources (ASX:ALK) shot up more than 7% on news it's repaid its outstanding A$45 million Macquarie facility, leaving the company substantively debt free apart from standard equipment financing.

IN THE RED

Qantas Airways (ASX:QAN) was down around half a per cent after being fined $90 million by the Federal Court for unlawfully outsourcing its ground handling staff in 2020, with $50 million to be paid to the Transport Workers Union and a further hearing to determine the distribution of the remaining $40 million.

Audinate Group (ASX:AD8) plunged after posting a full-year loss of $6.4 million, with revenue down 33% and gross profit falling 26% to US$32.9 million.
