HeLIX Exploration PLC (AIM:HEX, OTCQB:HHEXF) told investors it has mobilised equipment to the Inez-1 well site at the Rudyard field.
Operations begin today, 18 August, and testing is expected to start tomorrow, 19 August.
The programme will focus on helium-bearing zones in the Lower Souris River and Red River formations, which will be perforated and flow-tested to assess reservoir productivity and helium concentration.
Helix expects the work to be completed by the end of the month. Test results will be published following receipt of helium assays.
"Our mandate is clear: to deliver helium production that meets growing global demand," said chief executive Bo Sears.
"The imminent testing of this promising helium zone at Inez-1 represents an exciting time for the company, building on established production capacity from our drilled wells at Darwin, Linda and Weil.
"Work is progressing at speed on the ground, gearing up for near-term production as we enter a highly active and exciting second half of the year."
