Galileo Resources PLC (AIM:GLR) has extended the target area at its Ferber property in Nevada after mapping and sampling revealed evidence of a large mineral system.
The London-listed company said work carried out under a partnership with Bronco Creek Exploration, part of EMX Royalty Corporation, had identified multiple intrusive rock phases and four large fault blocks stretching about 10km east to west.
The results suggest the presence of a broad hydrothermal system, which can host copper, gold and silver deposits.
On the western side of the system, detailed mapping showed intense alteration of granodiorite with skarns (these are rock altered by hot fluids) and visible copper oxide mineralisation.
Laboratory results from rock samples are pending, while soil sampling has been completed and a gravity survey is planned for later this year.
Galileo said earlier that grab samples from the site had returned high levels of lead, zinc and silver alongside copper and gold.
The company noted similarities between the geology at Ferber and deposits along Nevada’s Battle Mountain Trend, which has produced more than 100 million tonnes of gold as well as substantial copper and silver.
Colin Bird, chairman and chief executive, said: “The property is showing significant potential as was anticipated when we first acquired the claims ... Our geological thinking drives us towards a porphyry intrusive/skarn model.”
A second phase of the exploration agreement with Bronco Creek is expected to involve reconnaissance drilling to test priority targets, with drill sites potentially defined in the fourth quarter of 2025.
Galileo said US government support for domestic mineral supply provided a favourable backdrop for advancing projects such as Ferber.
