International Market Analyst Tariq Al-Rifai talked with Proactive about the recent dramatic surge in Ethereum’s price, which has climbed nearly 200% since April—from around $1,500 to over $4,700. Al-Rifai attributed this rally to a combination of regulatory shifts and market enthusiasm, highlighting the Trump administration’s deregulation of the crypto space as a significant catalyst.
“There’s a lot of enthusiasm around cryptocurrencies now,” he noted, explaining how institutional involvement and the emergence of new Ethereum ETFs have further accelerated growth.
Al-Rifai said he believes Ethereum has more room to run, suggesting that some analyst forecasts of a $10,000 price point are “too conservative.” He sees potential for Ethereum to exceed $20,000 within the next year, citing its foundational role in powering other cryptocurrencies.
He also clarified the distinction between Ethereum and Bitcoin, stating that while both are built on blockchain technology, Ethereum functions more as infrastructure. “The beauty of Ethereum is that it has many uses,” he explained.
Although optimistic, Al-Rifai advised caution. He said cryptocurrencies are not yet safe havens like gold, and behave more like tech stocks than stable assets.
