Claire’s, the fashion accessories retailer, is set to appoint administrators in the UK and Ireland, placing 2,150 jobs at risk. The chain, which operates 278 stores in the UK and 28 in Ireland, has struggled with falling sales, rising competition and the shift to online shopping.
Administrators from Interpath will assess options, including a potential sale to secure the brand’s future.
Stores will remain open during the process.
The move follows Claire’s US bankruptcy filing earlier this month, where similar pressures, combined with debt, tariffs on Asian imports, and supply chain challenges, eroded margins.
