Galileo Resources plans new drilling in Kalahari Copperbelt

Galileo Resources PLC (AIM:GLR) has confirmed the presence of copper mineralisation in its prospecting licences at the Kalahari Copperbelt, following a programme of re-logging and testing.

Now, a new RC drilling programme is being planned to further investigate the PL253 target.

"We are very pleased with the outcome of the re-evaluation of our previous holes on the KCB,” said chief executive Colin Bird.

“We have developed enough confidence in our modelling to undertake further drilling in the near term to test the copper potential of our ground, commencing on PL253, where our ground is well positioned relative to recent competitor discovery and intensive exploration."

Relogging

The company relogged drill core from the 2022 drill programme at licences PL039 and PL040.

Copper minerals identified include chalcopyrite, bornite and chalcocite near the D'Kar/Ngwako Pan contact.

Hand-held XRF testing showed copper values ranging from 0.1% to 0.7%, with a maximum of 0.96% Cu. These results support earlier soil anomalies and coincide with previously reported geophysical targets.

On PL253, copper enhancement was recorded in hole QTRC006 over a 55 metre interval down to 211 metres depth. This zone is near the D'Kar/Ngwako Pan contact and an interpreted thrust fault close to the Tlou prospect.
