Tamboran Resources (ASX:TBN) has reached a historic agreement with Native Title Holders and the Northern Land Council — clearing the way to sell appraisal gas from its Beetaloo Basin permits under the Northern Territory’s Beneficial Use of Gas legislation.
This deal gives consent for the Beetaloo Joint Venture to sell up to 60 terajoules per day from the proposed Shenandoah South Pilot Project over three years. The focus now shifts to securing the approvals needed for longer-term production.
An initial contract for 40 million cubic feet per day has already been signed to supply the Northern Territory Government until mid-2041 — a move expected to bolster energy security for Territorians. First gas is targeted for mid-2026, pending weather and regulatory approvals.
Tamboran Resources' Chairman and Interim CEO, Richard Stoneburner, said: "The agreement provides a range of financial and non-financial benefits for Native Title Holders and we are excited to continue working together into the future to create jobs, grow business and create more opportunities for the local community. Gas from Tamboran’s proposed Shenandoah South Pilot Project is expected to support the NT’s energy system."
