Tamboran Resources Corporation (ASX:TBN, NYSE:TBN, OTC:TBNRL) has signed a landmark agreement with Native Title Holders and the Northern Land Council that paves the way for gas sales from its Beetaloo Basin exploration permits under the Northern Territory’s Beneficial Use of Gas legislation.
The agreement allows the Beetaloo Joint Venture (BJV) to sell appraisal gas from Exploration Permits 98 and 117, allowing production of up to 60 terajoules per day over three years from the proposed Shenandoah South Pilot Project. The BJV will now focus on securing the necessary regulatory approvals for long-term production.
“This is a significant moment for Tamboran Resources being the first operator in the Beetaloo Basin to secure Native Title Holder approval to sell gas under the legislated appraisal framework,” Tamboran Resources Corporation chairman and interim CEO Richard Stoneburner said.

Supply commitment to Northern Territory
Under an initial arrangement, the BJV has contracted 40 million cubic feet per day to supply the Northern Territory Government until mid-2041, supporting energy security for the region. Subject to weather conditions and customary stakeholder approvals, first gas is expected in mid-2026.
“Gas from Tamboran’s proposed Shenandoah South Pilot Project is expected to support the Northern Territory’s energy system, which is primarily powered by gas-fired generation. Meeting the energy requirements of the Northern Territory remains our primary near-term focus,” Stoneburner said.
