Tamboran sets Beetaloo Basin production record with Shenandoah South well

Tamboran sets Beetaloo Basin production record with Shenandoah South well

Tamboran Resources has set a new production record in the Beetaloo Basin. The company’s Shenandoah South 2H sidetrack well delivered an average 90-day flow rate of 6.7 million cubic feet per day — the highest ever recorded in the basin — from more than 5,400-foot horizontal section of the Mid Velkerri B Shale.

What’s more, flow rates actually edged higher over the final month, and declined just 3% from Day 60 to Day 90 — all without intervention. The well has now been suspended ahead of first gas sales to the Northern Territory Government in mid-2026.

Meanwhile, Tamboran’s 2025 drilling campaign is in full swing — the first multi-well batch program in the basin. Work is underway on three new wells, including plans for the company’s first 10,000-foot horizontal in the Shenandoah South area by year’s end.

Tamboran says this acreage will be critical to addressing East Coast gas shortfalls — and is also progressing a farm-down of about 400,000 acres in the region.
