American Resources Corp (NASDAQ:AREC) and its subsidiary ReElement Technologies has welcomed a newly announced cooperation agreement between the US and the Cook Islands to advance scientific research and the responsible development of seabed mineral resources.
The bilateral initiative aims to promote sustainable economic development and strengthen US-linked commercial activity in the Pacific region.
The joint declaration emphasized shared values around scientific progress, economic self-reliance and environmentally responsible resource management.
“ReElement supports and celebrates this bold partnership between the US and Cook Islands, which reinforces the importance of transparency, science-led development, and environmentally responsible resource strategies,” said ReElement CEO Mark Jensen.
In July, ReElement signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Impossible Metals to toll process polymetallic nodules collected from the ocean floor and a separate MoU with the American Samoa Economic Development Council to collaborate on seabed nodule refining.
Jensen credited ReElement board member Ambassador Mark Gilbert for helping foster key international partnerships. “As the world increasingly depends on technologies that require rare earth and critical minerals, we must develop and deploy processes that are both sustainable and economically scalable,” he said.
ReElement’s patented refining platform is designed to be modular, scalable and environmentally friendly, offering an alternative to legacy solvent extraction methods.
The company says its technology reduces chemical use, permitting hurdles and capital expenditures, while enabling co-location near mineral sources or customers.
