Liberty Star Uranium & Metals Corp. (OTCQB:LBSR) announced that its Hay Mountain project in Arizona has attracted increased attention following recent advocacy efforts in Washington, DC, and growing congressional support for domestic mineral development.
Board chairman Pete O’Heeron led a series of meetings in May with congressional officials that aimed to highlight the strategic importance of the project, which the company views as a key resource in the US push for critical mineral security.
Following the meetings, Representative Paul Gosar issued a letter on July 29 to several federal Cabinet Secretaries. The letter referenced Arizona’s mineral abundance, including the Hay Mountain property, and urged federal departments to prioritize, review, and support the state’s mining projects through actions such as expedited permitting or inclusion under FAST-41.
Liberty Star welcomed the letter and called on federal agencies, lawmakers and stakeholders to engage with the exploration and development of Hay Mountain.
“Arizona’s mineral riches are ready to fuel American industries—if we have regulatory support and interagency cooperation,” O’Heeron said.
The Hay Mountain Project is located in Arizona’s Tombstone Mining District and is being explored for copper, gold, molybdenum, and other strategic metals.
Liberty Star’s ongoing work includes a diamond core drilling program, with early 2024 results indicating elevated copper, lead, and zinc values as well as alteration signatures consistent with a large-scale porphyry copper-gold system.
“The United States is at a critical juncture in securing the minerals that power both our economy and our national security,” O’Heeron said. “Mineral properties like Hay Mountain offer a domestic solution for critical minerals and government partnerships can unleash their full potential.”
