Firefly Metals managing director Steve Parsons talked with Proactive about key developments at the company’s Green Bay copper-gold project in Newfoundland and Labrador.
The project recently achieved a major milestone with the environmental approval for a 1.8 million tonne-per-annum processing plant, backed by strong support from both the local community and the provincial government. "Getting the environmental permits through… is, without a doubt, something quite amazing for the company," Parsons said.
Parsons also outlined outstanding metallurgical results, reporting over 98% copper recovery and over 85% gold and silver recovery — metrics that he described as “world class.” These figures will directly support the company’s upcoming engineering and economic study, expected in early 2026.
Looking ahead, Firefly is progressing construction permit applications and preparing for early site works in late 2025. A significant amount of drilling is underway, with six underground rigs focused on resource expansion and infill drilling for resource classification upgrades. Two surface rigs are also targeting new regional prospects, part of a larger campaign to test 325 identified targets.
Key catalysts include a Q4 resource update and continued drilling news flow over the coming months.
