World Chess PLC (LSE:CHSS) has launched a ranking system called The Tower, an innovation that chief executive Ilya Merenzon called chess's “Duolingo moment”.
The Tower is a new player progression system on WorldChess.com that introduces public 'Floors' that reflect a player’s progress and also offers digital and physical rewards.
PRO members earn points faster and can reach exclusive upper Floors where they may compete against chess legends.
The Tower will be integrated with tournaments, rankings, and national leaderboards.
"It's not just an update - it's chess's Duolingo moment: the introduction of a structure that rewards consistency, makes progress visible, and offers a fresh, design-driven user experience," Merenzon said in a statement.
