Askari Metals Ltd (ASX:AS2) executive director Gino D’Anna talked with Proactive about the company's plans to commence a regional exploration program at its Nejo Gold and Copper Project in central-western Ethiopia.
D’Anna outlined how Askari is preparing for a maiden drilling campaign focused on two key mineralised corridors. These corridors have previously shown high-grade mineralisation through trenching and historical drilling, but lacked follow-up and a modern exploration strategy.
Askari aims to differentiate its approach with a systematic methodology that includes geophysics, gridded drilling, and targeted sampling. The company flagged September as the target for beginning drilling activity, starting with the Guruji and Kumtu 1 and 2 targets, where visible gold has already been identified.
D’Anna noted that Askari is also planning to include a regional campaign at the high-grade copper Katar target. Updated geophysics and mapping will help refine drilling targets across both gold and copper zones.
The company is targeting a maiden JORC resource within the first 12 months from the start of the campaign, which could serve as a major catalyst for shareholders.
