Chris Oorschot on Yandal’s strike extension at Caladan’s Arrakis prospect

Last week, Yandal Resources Ltd (ASX:YRL) reported further assay results from its diamond drilling program at the Caladan target, part of the Ironstone Well-Barwidgee Gold Project in Western Australia. Yandal managing director Chris Oorschot talked with Proactive about these further encouraging results.

Highlights

  • Yandal Resources reported further diamond drilling results from the Caladan target at Ironstone Well-Barwidgee.
  • Latest results came from the Arrakis prospect, a 3-kilometre regolith anomaly.
  • Notable intercepts include 11m at 1.4g/t gold, extending mineralisation 400m southeast.
  • Results support the theory of a large underlying mineralised structure across the anomaly.
  • RC drilling is planned for early to mid-August on cleared Echo lines.
  • Heritage surveys are scheduled for late August and mid to late September.
  • Additional assay results are pending, allowing flexibility in exploration planning.

Extended mineralisation

Yandal's results came from the Arrakis prospect, which hosts a three-kilometre long regolith anomaly. It highlighted that recent intercepts — including 11 metres at 1.4 grams per tonne gold — extend mineralisation by 400 metres to the southeast of previously reported intercepts.

Oorschot said the results strengthen the company's interpretation that the regolith anomaly represents a large mineralised structure at depth. Previous drilling had outlined zones such as 11 metres at 2.1 grams per tonne and 12 metres at 1.5 grams per tonne.

More drilling and assays to come

The company told investors that it plans to deploy an RC rig in early to mid-August to drill across Echo lines already cleared. It also scheduled heritage surveys for late August and mid to late September to enable testing of closer-spaced lines.

Additional assays remain pending, which could inform further exploration decisions and possible extensions to the Arrakis structure.
