Cyprium Metals advances Nifty copper complex restart, strengthens financial position

Cyprium Metals Ltd (ASX:CYM, OTC:CYPMF) has reported strong progress over the June 2025 quarter towards restarting its Nifty Copper Complex in Western Australia’s Paterson region. The company is focused on a phased redevelopment, with Phase 1 targeting copper cathode production, followed by expansion into sulphide concentrate operations.

In addition to operational advancements, Cyprium has secured 100% ownership of the Paterson Exploration Project, consolidating control over a 1,938-square-kilometre tenure once held by IGO.

Key highlights

  • Cathode Project: Operational readiness for Phase 1 of the cathode restart is progressing with target project sanctioning and final investment decision slated for Q3 2025.
  • Surplus generator sale: Cyprium received US$1.6 million in June and another US$1.6 million in July from the sale of surplus generators, adding to the company’s liquidity.
  • Paterson consolidation: Full 100% ownership of the Paterson Exploration Project secured following IGO’s exit from the joint venture, giving Cyprium control over a 1,938km² tenure in a Tier-1 copper province.
  • Executive team expansion: Cyprium strengthened its leadership with the appointments of Jeff Sommers as CFO and Angus Miles as VP of Corporate Development & Investor Relations.
  • Cash position: Cyprium ended the quarter with A$13.7 million in cash, bolstered by further payments from the generator sale.

Cathode Project progress

Cyprium’s strategy for the Nifty Copper Complex is advancing with progress on both regulatory and technical fronts. The company is on track for Phase 1 sanctioning in Q3 2025, with ongoing work to refine project execution and planning. Macmahon, the project’s site operator, has begun managing site activities, streamlining procurement processes and upgrading infrastructure.

Concentrate Project bankable feasibility study

The Bankable Feasibility Study (BFS) for the sulphide open pit is also advancing, with Macmahon providing critical engineering and project management resources. The team is working to improve operational effectiveness, minimise pre-stripping and leverage existing capital at Nifty to enhance the project’s value.

Paterson Exploration and 100% ownership

Cyprium's consolidation of the Paterson Exploration Project solidifies its position in one of Australia’s most prolific copper regions.

Following IGO's exit from the joint venture, Cyprium is now reviewing an extensive technical database, which includes more than $24 million worth of investment in drilling and geophysics, to fast-track exploration efforts. Key exploration targets include the Rainbow, MB01, NB03 and NL05 EM plate prospects.

Corporate and financial updates

Cyprium continues to maintain a strong financial position, with the latest cash balance of A$13.7 million and a third expected US$1.6 million payment from the generator sale.

The company is preparing to finalise financing for Phase 1 of the cathode project, continue work on the BFS for the concentrate project and further develop its exploration strategy for the Paterson district.
