Lindian Resources Ltd (ASX:LIN, OTC:LINIF) reported accelerated development of its Kangankunde Rare Earths Project in Malawi over the quarter ending in June, with construction ahead of schedule and key leadership appointments bolstering project execution.
The company also moved to fully acquire the Lelouma Bauxite Project, reinforcing its position in the global critical minerals market.
Kangankunde project on track with early construction and funding momentum
Lindian continued progress at its Kangankunde project, with the construction of key infrastructure such as an access road and security facilities advancing ahead of schedule.
The company’s European construction partner, Mota-Engil, successfully redeployed equipment and labour, resulting in early time and cost efficiencies in development of the 5-kilometre main access road, which is on track for completion in the third quarter of 2025.
Meanwhile, the project’s financing is gaining traction with multiple proposals, including commercial bank debt and offtake agreements, under active consideration. These moves align with the company’s timeline, with a mining development agreement (MDA) expected to be finalised by Q3 2025.
Strong momentum on project funding and leadership appointments
Lindian’s project funding strategy is gaining momentum, with proposals for a US$30 million loan term sheet from Ecobank Malawi and other funding avenues under review.
The company has made key leadership appointments to support Kangankunde's execution, including a senior process engineer and a project planner.
These appointments complement the growing interest in the project, with institutional stakeholders expressing increasing support.
Community engagement and government support boost project development
The company’s commitment to community engagement remained a priority during the quarter, with key stakeholder meetings held in Malawi. The visit by representatives from the Ministry of Mining, IMF, and UNDP further highlighted the project’s foreign currency generation potential and governance opportunities.

These engagements have strengthened Lindian’s relationships with both local and government entities, ensuring continued support for the project’s development.
Lelouma Bauxite acquisition strengthens global critical minerals position
Lindian also secured full ownership of the Lelouma Bauxite Project in Guinea, acquiring the remaining 25% interest.
With a 900 million tonne (Mt) JORC-compliant resource, the Lelouma project is one of the largest bauxite resources globally and will be advanced as a Direct Shipping Ore (DSO) operation, eliminating the need for beneficiation.
This acquisition positions Lindian as a key player in the bauxite sector, complementing its rare earths assets.
Funding, construction and continued growth
During the quarter, Lindian raised A$1.2 million from the exercise of options, ending June with a cash position of A$3.48 million, positioning it well for continued project development and expansion.
Looking ahead, Lindian remains focused on securing financing for the next phase of the Kangankunde development, with several discussions in advanced stages. Construction activities at Kangankunde are set to continue on track, with key contracts for mining, infrastructure, and power expected to be awarded in H2 2025.
