Yandal Resources Ltd (ASX:YRL) on Tuesday reported a positive quarterly update on its exploration efforts across the Yandal Greenstone Belt, with particularly encouraging results from its Caladan and New England Granite target areas.
At Caladan, early-stage air-core drilling has identified a continuous mineralised structure over 800 metres of strike, with notable intercepts such as 11 metres at 2.1 g/t gold (Au). The results highlight the potential for a large-scale gold discovery in the highly prospective area.
In the New England Granite target area, diamond drilling at the Siona discovery confirmed broad low-grade mineralisation with higher-grade zones at depth, supporting the presence of a significant gold system. The integration of geological observations with ground gravity surveys has helped define several high-priority structural targets, with air-core drilling already under way.
Caladan target area: Early-stage exploration shows promise
At Caladan, Yandal initiated a large-scale air-core drilling program in June 2025, testing the Caladan fold structure over 6.4 kilometres of strike. The program, which consists of 132 holes for a total of 13,458 metres, aims to further define the mineralised structure at depth.
Early results have already shown promising gold intersections, including 11m at 2.1 g/t Au from 90 metres in hole 25IWBAC023 and 12 metres at 1.1 g/t Au from 45 metres in hole 25IWBAC032. These results suggest that the mineralised structure at Caladan is continuous along more than 800 metres of strike, with potential for further extensions to the northwest and southeast.
The 12,500-metre aircore (AC) program, which has now been completed, followed up on initial reverse circulation (RC) drilling results from earlier in the year. The mineralisation is hosted within sheared and altered dolerite, and the early-stage drilling results highlight the potential for new large-scale gold discoveries.
The company will continue to refine its understanding of the structural controls at Caladan, building on the extensive geological data collected so far.
New England Granite: Refining structural targets for future drilling
At New England Granite, Yandal’s efforts have focused on understanding the scale and potential of the Siona discovery, which was made in late 2024. During the June Quarter, the company received results from diamond drilling at Siona, confirming wide, low-grade mineralisation with significant higher-grade zones.
Assays from four new holes at Siona returned promising results, including 6.4 metres at 1.5 g/t Au from 103.5 metres in hole 25IWBDD0009, which contained individual high-grade intercepts such as 0.4 metres at 12.7 g/t Au from 108.3 metres.
The integration of geological observations from these drilling results, along with ground gravity survey data, has allowed Yandal to define several large-scale structural targets within the New England Granite.
The company is now prioritising these targets, focusing on structures that interact with the intrusive margin and other key geological features identified during drilling. Air-core drilling at the targets has already commenced, with results expected in the coming weeks.
The collar plan shows all RC and diamond drilling completed across Siona with individual down-hole assays plotted on the drill string. A surface projection of the intrusive contact and major structures is also plotted. The planes of sections A and B are also shown.
Corporate update: Cash position and asset divestment
As of the end of the June quarter, Yandal reported a cash position of about $4.76 million, providing financial flexibility to advance its exploration activities.
In addition, the company has engaged KPMG Corporate Finance to advise on the potential divestment of its non-core assets, the Mt McClure and Gordons Gold Projects. This strategic review is ongoing, and further updates will be provided as necessary.
Looking ahead, Yandal Resources will continue its aggressive exploration strategy, with a focus on expanding its gold resources at both Caladan and New England Granite. The upcoming months are expected to bring further drilling results, which will provide additional clarity on the scale and potential of these high-priority gold targets.
