International Graphite Ltd managing director and CEO Andrew Worland talked with Proactive about the company’s new co-operation agreement with Arctic Graphite AS and Graphite Investment Partners LLC to establish an expandable graphite processing facility in Germany.
Worland explained that the facility forms part of a broader three-pillar growth strategy — combining near-term industrial cash generation with long-term development of the Springdale Graphite Project in Western Australia. He noted, "What we're doing now with the additional facility we've announced today... is further building out that industrial capability of the business and finding an additional way to generate more cash flow and revenues."
The German location was selected due to strategic partnerships and logistical advantages, including its position within an EU chemical park with full industrial infrastructure. Worland highlighted the strength of collaboration, noting key contributors such LNS, ProGraphite and Hensen.
The planned facility is expected to produce 3,000 tonnes annually and be operational by 2027, helping reduce Europe’s dependence on imported graphite. According to Worland, this move also complements IG's global market ambitions and ultimately aims to support development of the Springdale project.
