Asian Battery Metals managing director Gan-Ochir Zunduisuren talked with Proactive about the upcoming drilling resumption at the company’s Oval copper-nickel (Cu-Ni) discovery in southern Mongolia. Zunduisuren confirmed that operations are set to restart within two weeks following encouraging electromagnetic (EM) survey results.
The EM program, now at its halfway stage, has already identified 2–3 conductive plate targets outside the main Oval zone, which may point to further mineralisation. “We are very encouraged by the current results,” Zunduisuren said, noting the potential for additional drill targets across similarly mineralised areas.
The upcoming program will focus on deeper and step-out targets, including MS1, MS2, and Quartz Hill. Zunduisuren explained that the survey expansion is moving southeast from shallower zones into areas with greater depth potential. The company is using high-power downhole EM tools for the first time, which it believes are well-suited to this mineralisation style.
“We would like to understand our mineral system better… and have a broad sense of its size,” Zunduisuren added, describing the targets as “very promising, high-conductive plates.”
Asian Battery Metals has already drilled the Oval and northern zones and is now preparing to test further high-priority areas.
