There is an absence of scheduled news from the real big guns this week, though a couple of high street favourites are set to report.
Dixons Carphone releases fourth quarter numbers on Wednesday, and despite indications from sector peers of a slow-down in sales growth, broker Investec is still expecting positive like-for-like sales growth for the consumer electronics retailer.
The broker nudged up its full-year (normalised) profit before tax forecast to £374.8mln on sales of £10.89bn, on the back an upwards revised expectations of synergies to be derived from the merger with Carphone Warehouse.
The broker rates the shares a 'buy' and has a price target of 510p.
Full-year results from car parts and bikes seller Halfords will be the first to be issued since Jill McDonald took over as chief executive officer, but as she has barely been in the job three weeks the figures will be no reflection on her.
For the record, the market is expecting profit before tax to rise by almost 10% to £79.31mln on sales of just over a billion quid.
Of more interest to the market will be an update on current trading plus any indication of the direction in which McDonald, the former chief marketing officer of burger seller McDonald's in the UK & Northern Europe, intends to take Halfords.
The results are out on Friday, the same day as full-year numbers from London Pride brewer Fuller, Smith & turner.
“Rival London pubco Young & Co reported its full year numbers last week, and saw revenues up 7.7% and EPS rise to 50.6p from 42.8p last year. The market will likely expect Fuller’s to produce similar numbers,” said Langton Capital.
