IG Group shares rise 7% on record results and upbeat outlook

IG Group Holdings Plc (LSE:IGG) shares climbed 7% after the trading platform reported record annual revenue of £1.075 billion, up 9% on last year, and a 17% jump in adjusted profit before tax to £535.8 million.

Higher interest income and tight cost controls underpinned the performance.

Chief executive Breon Corcoran said the first year of the group’s new strategy had delivered good progress and expressed confidence in meeting market expectations for the coming year.

Looking further ahead, IG expects revenue to continue growing at a mid- to high single-digit rate, driven by efficiency and ongoing investment in its platform and products.

"IG’s diversification, scale and steady returns at low volatility remain underappreciated by the market," said Panmure Liberum in a note.
