Green360 Technologies Ltd executive chairman Aaron Banks talked with Proactive about a major milestone — the successful calcining of more than 450 tonnes of high-purity kaolin from its Pittong Operation in Victoria. The output is being used to produce high-reactivity metakaolin for use in low-carbon cement applications.
Banks explained the significance of the event, describing it as the company’s "first commercial scale run of turning our waste product ... into metakaolin for use in large-scale infrastructure projects." This marks a crucial step in Green360's strategy to establish a consistent, cost-effective supply chain for green cement inputs.
The processed material will now be deployed across a number of Victorian government infrastructure projects. Banks highlighted that the initiative not only validates the company’s production capacity but also enables both government and industry players to begin testing the performance and durability of Green360’s low-emission cement products.
"This is the tipping point," Banks said, noting the economic and environmental relevance of reliable supply. He added that the company expects sales from these trials to begin toward the end of the year.
The Pittong calcining run also helps position Green360 ahead of anticipated shortages in traditional materials, particularly as older coal-fired power stations shut down and blast furnace slag becomes less accessible and more costly.
Banks revealed that announcements in the coming weeks will detail which government projects the metakaolin is being used in, with early figures suggesting placement across five to fifteen projects.
