Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL, ETR:APC) is tipped to launch its first foldable iPhone, often referred to as the "iPhone Fold," in the second half of 2026.
According to Bloomberg analysts, the initial production run is expected to be limited to 10 million to 15 million units and is set to launch alongside the iPhone 18 lineup late next year.
Apple is reportedly targeting China as a key market due to rising foldable smartphone demand, but global availability might be limited initially.
It is also expected to be Apple's most expensive iPhone to date, with an estimated price between $1,800 and $2,400.
Per the analysts, the iPhone fold will feature a book-style folding design similar to Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 7, with a 7.8-inch internal display that unfolds like a tablet and a 5.5-inch external screen for regular phone use.
The foldable iPhone may measure around 9 to 9.5 mm thick when folded and about 4.5 to 4.8 mm when unfolded, making it one of the slimmest foldable phones on the market.
Apple is reportedly focusing on minimizing the visible screen crease and improving hinge durability by using advanced materials like titanium and stainless steel.
The internal display is expected to have minimal crease visibility and use a resolution of about 2713 x 1920 pixels, while the outer display will have a resolution near 2088 x 1422 pixels.
Bloomberg’s analysts report that the phone will feature a new dual 48MP rear camera system and a side-mounted Touch ID sensor instead of Face ID, likely to save internal space and suit the foldable form factor.
iOS 27 will be optimized for foldable displays, prioritizing multitasking and fold-specific features, possibly including Apple Pencil support, they added.
Shares of Apple traded up 1.1% at about $213 on Monday.
