Kromek Group PLC (AIM:KMK) shares jumped 5% after the company announced a £1.7 million contract to supply wearable radiation detectors and support services to the Home Office.
This marks Kromek’s first order under the UK Government’s Radiological Nuclear Detection Framework, a four-year scheme designed to boost national security through better radiation monitoring.
The deal includes the delivery of Kromek’s D3S-ID wearable detectors, alongside training and maintenance, with most of the revenue expected to be booked in the current financial year.
Kromek, which is already pre-qualified under three categories in the government’s framework, said the award should help drive further growth in its detection business.
Chief executive Arnab Basu said the contract underlines the company’s leadership in advanced detection technology and opens up significant new growth opportunities.
The government framework, which runs until 2028, enables selected suppliers to receive ongoing orders to support the UK’s radiological security efforts.
The shares were up 0.29p to 5.74p. Broker Cavendish reckons they are worth 26p.
