Tertiary Minerals PLC (AIM:TYM, OTC:TTIRF) has begun drilling at Target A1, part of its Mushima North project in Zambia, as it seeks to build momentum in the search for silver, copper and zinc.
The company said it has launched a programme of up to 1,500 metres of air core and reverse circulation drilling to follow up on encouraging results from late last year.
Previous drilling at Target A1 returned notable intersections, including 57 metres at 25 grams per tonne silver, 0.20% copper and 0.15% zinc, as well as a separate interval of 65 metres at 23 grams per tonne silver, 0.14% copper and 0.27% zinc.
The new drilling is aimed at testing both the extent and depth of the mineralisation found so far. Target A1 sits just 28 kilometres east of the historic Kalengwa copper-silver mine, an area known for its mineral potential.
Managing director Richard Belcher said: "Previous initial drilling at Target A1 identified near surface polymetallic (silver-copper-zinc) mineralisation over a width of 350 metres and downhole intervals of up to 67m, but with many of the holes ending in mineralisation.
"This drill programme has been designed to follow up on these highly encouraging drilling results and will not only test the surface footprint of the silver- and zinc-in-soil anomaly over a strike extent of some 1.6 kilometres and up to 300 metres wide, but also the downdip potential to a depth of up to 150 metres."
Tertiary said it will provide further updates as results from the current campaign come through.
