US President Donald Trump has claimed that The Coca-Cola Company (NYSE:KO) will use cane sugar instead of high-fructose corn syrup for its soft drinks produced in the US.
In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump wrote: “This will be a very good move by them — You'll see. It's just better!"
Coca-Cola has not confirmed or denied Trump’s claims about the formula change.
"We appreciate President Trump's enthusiasm for our iconic Coca-Cola brand," a company spokesperson said in a statement. "More details on new innovative offerings within our Coca-Cola product range will be shared soon."
Trump’s push aligns with his administration’s “Make America Healthy Again" initiative led by Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr, which aims to reduce ultra-processed foods and additives like high-fructose corn syrup.
Coca-Cola sold in the US is usually sweetened with corn syrup, whereas in countries like Mexico and several in Europe, the company uses cane sugar instead.
Shares of Coca-Cola traded up 0.6% at about $70 on Thursday morning.
