Active Energy broadens crypto holdings with new digital asset purchases

Active Energy Group PLC (AIM:AEG, OTCQB:ATGVF) has expanded its digital asset reserves beyond Bitcoin, adding a wider mix of cryptocurrencies to its balance sheet as part of its treasury management strategy.

The London-listed renewable energy company said on Thursday it had purchased Ethereum, Solana, Ripple and Litecoin, following its initial investment in Bitcoin in July. The move is part of what the company described as a “measured expansion” of its digital asset portfolio.

In a statement, AEG said the updated policy was aimed at improving treasury flexibility while maintaining a focus on “long-term shareholder value” and continuing to support its core operations in sustainable energy.

The company said: “This broader exposure to established digital assets complements the group’s objectives by further hedging against inflationary pressures and currency volatility.”

Digital assets such as Bitcoin and Ethereum have grown in popularity with companies looking for alternative stores of value. However, the sector remains volatile and subject to shifting regulatory scrutiny.

AEG said it would continue to monitor the market and adjust its holdings “in line with the Policy”.
